Launch WordPress from Microsoft Azure
As you would have reached the homepage by registering in Microsoft Azure with free trial or subscription plan. The Home Dashboard of Microsoft Azure will look like the picture below.
Now you open the Marketplace here. If you do not see the Marketplace there, then find it by searching in the search box above. The Marketplace Dashboard of Microsoft Azure will look like the image below.
Now type WordPress in the searchbox of the Marketplace, so that many WordPress with different types of service will come up. Now select any WordPress you want to install. According to me, it is better to select normal WordPress. On clicking on the desired WordPress page, the page will appear like the image below. Now click on the given Create button.
On clicking on the Create button, the page will appear like the image given below, in which the required data has to be filled.
Now first of all you have to select subscription. If you have a subscription, select it, and if not, it will be ‘Free Trial’ by default.
Don’t fill in the resource group right now, as the hosting data below will automatically fill the resource group. Now select the region for your server in the hosting details region below. Do not select India in this, because Microsoft Azure’s server is not in India and selecting India will cause WordPress installation to fail. Still you can try.
Now type a prefix or subdomain name of your web app in the name box, whose domain will be azurewebsite.net. The name you enter must be unique and will be the default primary URL of your WordPress site. Now select your operating system and then click on “Next Tag” button. On clicking the Next: Tag button, the page will appear like the image below.
In this page, you do not enter anything in the name and value boxes, but select all four resources in the resource box. Now click on ‘Next: Review + Create’ button. , On clicking the ‘Next: Review + Create‘ button, the page will appear like the image below, with your app service plan and database details below. The database details will also contain your database username and password. Write it down or take a screenshot, because it can be useful in future.
Now click on the Create button given below. On clicking the Create button, a page will appear like the image below, showing the process of developing your web app.
In this process your database, group etc. will be created. This process will be completed in 5 to 10 minutes. Then the page will be looking like the picture given below.
Here a URL will appear in the upper right hand side in the Essentials section. This is your primary WordPress URL. You will see an error when you open it, because your WordPress website is not launched yet. You have to open it by adding an attached /wp-admin to that URL, so that you can now launch your WordPress. When you open it by adding /wp-admin attached to the given URL, you will be taken to WordPress.
Now select your language and click on Continue button. Now in the next page by filling your site title, username and password for admin panel, and your email id, click on the install button given below. Now in two or three minutes your WordPress site will be launched and the success page will appear.
Now click on the Login button there and then log in with your username and password to access your WordPress dashboard and customize your site.
That’s all in this article. If you have any problem in doing this, then write in the comment box below. In the next article, we will describe ways to add custom domains etc.
