Human Development Report 2022:
The Human Development Index (HDI) is part of HDR 2021-22, a report released by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) on 7 September 2022. The latest Human Development Report HDR 2021-22 is titled "Uncertain Times, Unsettled Lives: Shaping Our Future in a Transforming World". India's HDI rank in the year 2021-22 is 132 out of 191 countries.
Highlights of Human Development Report:
A major contributor to the recent decline in the Human Development Index is the global decline in life expectancy, which declined from 72.8 years in 2019 to 71.4 years in 2021.
Switzerland (0.962) is ranked first in the report, followed by Norway second (0.962), Iceland third (0.959), Hong Kong fourth (0.952), Australia fifth (0.951), Denmark sixth (0.948), Sweden seventh (0.947). ), Ireland is eighth (0.945), Germany is ninth (0.945), and the Netherlands is also ninth (0.945).
South Sudan (191), Chad (190), Niger (189), the Republic of Central Africa (188) and Burundi (187) are the top five countries in the report.
India's rank in Human Development Report 2022:
- India's HDI value during 2021 was 0.633, lower than the world average of 0.732.
- For the year 2021-22, India's HDI score is 0.633, placing it in the category of medium human development and lower than the previous year's score of 0.645.
- In the year 2021, India's life expectancy at birth was recorded at 67.2 years.
- Expected years of schooling at 11.9 years, average years of schooling at 6.7 years.
- The per capita gross national income was $6590.
- India ranks 122nd in the Gender Inequality Index (GII).
- For India, for the year 2019, the inequality-adjusted Human Development Index (IHDI) value is 0.537 (16.8% overall).
- For India, the Gender Development Index (GDI) value for the year 2021 is 0.490.
