Renovated Central Vista Avenue Inaugurated: Key Facts
1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 8 September 2022 unveiled the new look of the renovated Central Vista Avenue spanning a 3-km stretch from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate. It is part of the Modi government's ambitious ₹13450 crore Central Vista redevelopment project.
- This is the first project completed under the Central Vista Redevelopment Plan. Prime Minister Modi inaugurated the newly renamed "Duttavya Path" as part of the renovated Central Vista Avenue.
- The Central Vista project is a continuous renewal of Central Vista, India's premier administrative district, located near Raisina Hill in New Delhi.
- The Central Vista Complex, designed by British architects Edwin Lutyens and Herbert Baker, was intended to serve as India's administrative center and maintain the necessary infrastructure for effective government operation.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the road 'Kartavya Path' under the Central Vista between Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate. Since Rajpath is the route where the 26 January parade takes place.
- A 15.5 km long walkway has also been made from red granite on both sides of this road from Rajpath to Duty Path. Along with this, 16 bridges have also been built in the canal area of 19 acres. Along with this, there will be a seating arrangement on both sides of this duty path spread over 3.90 lakh square miles.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi also unveiled the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, under the Central Vista, near India Gate. The statue has been installed at the same place where the hologram statue of this great freedom fighter of India was unveiled on 30 January 2022.
- A total of 28 feet high and weighing 65 metric tons, a jet black granite statue was placed under the canopy near the India Gate.
- This statue is designed and crafted by Arun Yogiraj from a single monolithic granite stone.
